Tata Sky has released a limited period offer for its new subscribers. Tata Sky will be providing ‘Binge’ service that allows its subscribers to catch up with all the content from third-party OTT platforms with a single device. Tata Sky has now offered a new three months of free subscription to Amazon Prime Video for the new joining subscribers. The customers will have to pay for the subscription after the three month period is over.
The Binge service on Tata Sky is available to the subscribers at a monthly rental of Rs 249. As part of the membership the subscribers get to enjoy content from Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, Sun NXT, Zee5 and others. Netflix is not part of the package. Tata Sky is sticking to Amazon Prime Video subscription, given that its Binge relies heavily on the Amazon’s hardware. The monthly charge for the service becomes the part of the Tata Sky billing.
Individually, an Amazon Prime subscription costs Rs 129 per month to the subscribers. Plus the subscription it also provides benefits of Prime membership while shopping on Amazon. The subscribers also get to use the Amazon Prime Music. There is a a yearly package for customers who are regular and want to save on the subscription fee. Amazon offers an annual subscription plan of Rs 999 with all of the same benefits.
This is a common trend now among the DTH operator to offer a free subscription to OTT platforms. Airtel gives away Netflix subscription plans along with Amazon Prime Video with its broadband plans.
