In 2014, Chris Sarchet Bell created an event brand in his hometown, Burnley, that made its priority to approach the event business with the U18s as its suited audience. This came years after Chris Sarchet Bell had made a name for himself in the event business that organized night entertainment activities for the mature audience.
Chris shares with us how his hometown influence transpired. “Shutdown Events quickly made a name for itself in Burnley and soon started to attract clientele from out of the town and further, with each event, more and more people talking about it and their experiences of the night. Within 6 months we branched into a second area, their reputation continued to grow rapidly and the following 8 months saw us branch into another 4 towns/cities”
He further tells us “It was at this stage that we realised we had created something special and a brand in which both clients and parents recognised as a trusted brand. We were also happy to find that we were starting to gain huge support from the police and local councils, as they could see the good Shutdown was bringing”
Organizing a homegrown brand
Creating a brand from scratch comes with many difficulties and the brilliant innovator Burnley is dedicated to jumping through the hurdles.
Chris proudly shares with us how “Within the first 2 years Shutdown Events became the UK’s largest leading U18s brand”
“We now tour the country every couple of months from as high up as Scotland to as far down as Newquay, hosting some of the most talked about events in the UK. These events include bringing some of the biggest names in the music industry, PA’s from some of the most popular reality tv shows, paint & foam parties, Co2 & confetti parties + much more. Shutdown has now hosted events across 10+ towns/cities nationwide”
The age of fun
With the growing age in music and entertainment, Chris has accredited the inspiration behind his decision to organize events for the younger generation. He quotes that “Because now, more than ever the music/live events/concerts scene is bigger and more in demand than ever, especially with the younger generation”
Evidently, his investment is paying off with his growing popularity across the UK. Shutdown receives positive engagement from their social media bases and they receive requests from clients across the country, asking them to perform events in their city. Because of this, Shutdown continues to grow and build such a high in demand brand on a weekly basis.
Chris enjoys fun and the party lifestyle and it reflects in the optimism that he utilizes in handling his brand amidst the tough patch he had growing up. “Tell me I can’t, I’ll show you I can” – I have this tattooed on me and I swear by this every day”
