MUMBAI – Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians captain has suffered a right hamstring injury during IPL practice session at Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai Indians team was practicing for the IPL match against Kings XI Punjab when Rohit Sharma got injured. When Mumbai Indians physiotherapist Nitin Patel saw him writhing in pain, he went towards him to raise him. Rohit was taken to the dressing team with the help of other team members and he could not manage to complete the rest of the practice session.
He suffered an injury in his right hamstring at a time when the announcement for World cup squad is scheduled to happen after one week on April 15, 2019. His injury raised questions over his chances to get fit for the World Cup. At first, MI management didn’t make an announcement about Rohit’s position to play the game against Kings XI Punjab. However, later it announced that Rohit is fine and he will not be playing for the match against Kings XI Punjab. The team authority has decided to give him rest as a precautionary measure and announced that he will be playing in the next game. Kieron Pollard will lead Mumbai Indians against Kings XI Punjab.
All his fans are wishing that Rohit will recover well and his injury would not last for a long time. Since the countdown for the world cup has started so it is important for Rohit Sharma to get fit as soon as possible. Siddhesh Lad will replace him for the match against the Kings XI Punjab and will start the MI innings as an opener. Rohit’s performance in the last five matches of this year IPL has not been impressive and he has just scored 118 runs with an average of 23.60. Mumbai Indians needs to win this game as it currently rests at fifth spot whereas Kings XI Punjab is at third place on the points table with three wins out of five.
