Maroon 5’s Super Bowl press conference might get canceled amid controversy over band’s participation in the event. Every year, the halftime performers appear in a press conference before the performance. But this time, the National Football League tweeted about the cancellation of Maroon 5’s pre-match press conference. It made an announcement that all the behind-the-scenes footage and content from its halftime performance will be released for the fans. However, there is no official announcement from the band’s side. About 1,12,000 signatures have been gone against the participation of Maroon 5 in the match in an online petition.
“As it’s about music, the artists will let their show do the talking as they prepare to take the stage this Sunday,” The National Football League (NFL) said in a tweet on Tuesday.
The controversy took place when the NFL player Colin Kaepernick kneel down during the US national anthem in pre-game ceremonies. He was the first in a series of NFL players to do so. The players clarified that they wanted to draw the attention towards the wrongdoings against African Americans and other minorities in the US. People wanted the band to pull out in solidarity with NFL player Colin Kaepernick. Since 2017, he has not played in the NFL and the player had accused the league to keep him off the field because of his activism and is suing the league.
NFL Super Bowl is the main event of American football and it is scheduled to take place on 3 February in Atalanta, Georgia. People love to watch this league in huge numbers all over the world.
