Conor McGregor broke the rules post-UFC 229 fight and got involved in a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. Both the players not only got suspended but also faced punishment following the actions of Nevada’s State Athletic Commission. Also, both the players didn’t appear in the court when their sentence was being announced. This is a shameful incident on the part of both the athletes and they both have disrespected the integrity of the UFC.
The brawl got initiated following Nurmagomedov’s attack on McGregor’s teammate, Dillion Danis as soon as he left the Octagon after the match. Meanwhile, McGregor exchanged the blow on top of the fence with a member of Nurmagomedov’s team prior to being blindsided inside the Octagon. Everyone condemned the acts of both the wrestlers and even UFC president voiced against this act. UFC president, Dana White called the post-match conference and slammed the incident badly.
In a unanimous motion, Nurmagomedov received a fine of $500,000 of his UFC purse and also got a punishment for nine months. But there are good chances for his sentence to be reduced since he had participated in an anti-bullying PSA. On the other hand, the judges took a little more time before announcing the punishment for McGregor and he received less intense punishment than the former. He was fined with $50,000 and a ban for six months. While the two persons namely, Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Zubaira Tukhugov, who got involved in the brawl were awarded a punishment of 1 year and a fine of $25,000 each.
