College admission scandal is currently making the wave among celebrities and stars recently. Could it be because they’ve got the connections and funds to get their kids into college?
Last Wednesday, Lori Loughlin, a 54 years old actress and her 55 years old fashion designer husband appeared in a Boston court on charges of agreeing to pay a bribe of $500,000 to get their two daughters, Isabella and Olivia Jade admitted into the University of Southern California and even designated as members of the crew team despite none of them being a rower. Olivia is a 19-year-old YouTube star while Isabella is 20 years old.
During the hearing, the couple was only asked if they know their rights and nothing else concerning the charge was discussed. They were not even invited to make a plea.
They were subsequently released on a one million dollars bond each. Until now, neither the couples nor their lawyers have issued public statements about the charge.
Same Wednesday, Felicity Huffman, a star actress of “Desperate Housewives” series also appeared in court for her involvement in the national college admission scandal. The 56 years old actress was accompanied to court by her brother and was only asked some Yes or No questions but wasn’t asked to make a plea. Although neither she nor her lawyer has made public statements, investigations reveal Huffman paid $15,000 to have her daughter partake in a rigged college entrance examination. The star actress and her husband who starred in “Shameless” funneled the bribe through a non-tax deductible charity fund.
Although Huffman has been released on a $250,000 bond and might face tax penalties, her husband, William Macy was not charged with any crime.
