NEW DELHI – UAE has honoured PM Narendra Modi with Zayed Medal, the highest decoration for the contribution of the Indian PM in boosting the ties between the two nations. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan tweeted that PM Modi has played a pivotal role in the strengthening of historical and comprehensive ties between the two nations. Hence, the UAE president has appreciated Indian PM Narendra Modi’s efforts with Zayed Medal. Replying to UAE Crown Prince, Indian PM Narendra Modi expressed his thankfulness for the honour and stated that the friendship between the two nations is contributing to peace and prosperity. Also, the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj expressed her gratitude on behalf of the entire nation and said that Narendra Modi has played a stellar role in boosting the strategic partnership with UAE and other Islamic world.
Narendra Modi is not the first person of any state who has received the Zayed Model. The leaders of other states had received it earlier in the past. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the UK Queen Elizabeth II had also been honoured with Zayed Medal in the earlier times.
MEA said that PM Narendra Modi’s visits to the UAE have taken the relations between the two nations to a new height. UAE Crown Prince has also reciprocated to India’s initiatives to build warm relations between the two nations. In 2015, Indian PM Narendra Modi visited UAE and hence contributed to strengthening the bonding with UAE. Post his visit, the UAE Crown Prince also showed his presence as the Chief Guest at Republic day in New Delhi. Also, PM Narendra Modi also visited UAE in February 2018 to further give a boost to the strategic ties between the two nations.
Both India and UAE, share warm relations in the sectors of energy cooperation, trade, and investments by the UAE in India. Not only is UAE the member of Gurugram based International Solar Alliance (ISA) but also the fifth largest supplier of crude oil to India. The trade between the UAE and India stood at USD 50 billion and also UAE is the second largest export destination for India.
